Tiroler Barockinstrumentalisten

Tiroler Barockinstrumentalisten

What had originally been founded as an ensemble for chamber music and historical instruments in 2000, was later transformed into an orchestra that was able to fill the vacancy of an independent Baroque orchestra and thus secure a constant fostering of historical informed performance.

The name says it all: on the one hand the orchestra consists of a flexible cast and brings together mainly Tyrolean music experts with international reputation; on the other hand the musicians approach already interpreted music from a contemporary perspective of historically informed performance. This mixture is a high priority for us! The members of the orchestra contribute to leading European ensembles for Early Music, make guest appearances at renowned festivals and many of us work as lecturers and educators at music universities and schools.

In particular, the stylistically confident implementation of compelling programmes has helped the orchestra to gain a reputation far beyond the Tyrolean region. Up to now, the orchestra has been invited to festivals such as Innsbrucker Festwochen, Barocktage Varazdin, Münchner Residenzkonzerte, Südtiroler Osterspiele, Schubertiade Schwaz and many more, as well as cultural cycles, like Stadtkultur Lienz, Tiroler Barocktage etc.

Well-known artists such as Brigitte Fassbaender, Julia Stemberger, Andreas Scholl, Hélène Guilmette, Cornelia Horak and many more have discovered the orchestra for their own stage programmes.

Our main emphasis is based on our musician's desire to approach works outside the core literature. A specialty of our ensemble structure is that we regularly change the position of the concertmaster. This enables us to benefit from the inputs of renowned international specialists that participate in our projects.
